You were a dear friend to me, a great teacher (of ungrateful students, but I’ll bet they look back on you as their best ever), a fun-loving soul. You were loved by many people (including me). You will be missed more than you will ever know.
From the Book of Common Prayer, which you knew so well:
In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life
through our Lord Jesus Christ, we commend to Almighty God our brother Steve.
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord:
And let light perpetual shine upon him.
May his soul, and the souls of all the departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
